ClumsyClumsy

This post should actually go before "WeBeHere".
The week before when I was in Singapore for a meeting, I tripped over my own feet (Fav No.7 says 'ter-pleh-ot'), ON A FLAT SURFACE and slammed my right knee into two steps...yup, thaaaat's right..the only two steps in the whole freaking hotel near the lobby and it had to happen there.
When I fell I laughed to myself but no one except a rather concerned bellboy saw me.

It happened as I was checking out and as I massaged my poor knee in the cab on the way to the airport, it started to swell up to a size of half a tennis ball !

So when I reached the airport and checked in..sure enough my gate "F40" was almost the furthest away..so I decided to go to the clinic at the airport to see if I had a fracture or anything.
Thank you Raffles Medical Centre at Terminal 2 for draining the fluid and the painkillers !
Thank you Raffles Medical Centre at Terminal 2 for sending me to a gate in a buggy with a small flashing light that got everyone scurrying out of the way.

So thank you Fav.No.7, for being such a sport in making sure I could hobble around Bali nicely.

Anyway, have been putting all sorts of cream and struggling to be completely mobile ever since....no fracture though, just a very bad sprain.

For the record, I have a history of weak knees , having dislocated my left twice and my right once.

WeBeHere

From tomorrow till the next few days we will be here.
Away from the madness of KL.
Away from politics.
Away from protests regarding 'concerts' in Shah Alam.
Dont call us..we'll call you !
"I'm taking the one on the right and Fav. No.7 the left."

SummerEvents

Two great Summer events to look forward to; Euro 2008 which is ongoing in Switzerland and Austria and The Beijing Olympics !

Will not blog about Euro 2008 as I have been blogging about football waaaay too much lately but am thinking Portugal and Holland to win and as for the darkhorse am going for Sweden.

In the meantime here is a version of the Olympics logo for China.
Nothing to do with human rights I might add.

Deservedly

The Order of Merit conferred by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin on the occasion of his birthday on June 7th 2008 on national squash queen Nicol Ann David is seen as the country's highest recognition for sports.
Nicol, 24, is the first recipient of the award given to Malaysians who are renowned at national and international levels.

Established on June 26, 1975, the award is limited to 10 recipients who have made significant contributions in the arts, science and humanity. The award, however, does not carry any title.

Penang-born Nicol is currently the World's N.1 ranked Women's squash player.
"Why hasn't Penang given her a Datuk-ship? Am sure no one in Malaysia would protest this."

TheIncreaseThatWillHurt

The Prime Minister today announced a fuel hike of 78sen to RM.2.70 per litre and diesel by one freaking Ringgit from to RM2.58 !!

Life of course will go on, but despite the subsidy announced for cars under 2000cc, it will still hit very hard on the smaller income group.

Those that have no choice but to buy a small car as there is no public transport in their area.
You know, that family of 5 who saved for two years to buy that Kancil, not enough money to even send their car for regular servicing, a holiday would mean the whole family heading to Sunway Lagoon after saving for 6 months..how will this affect them. This family eats at mamak stalls who no doubt will increase their prices soon.

The increase is a HUGE jump.
Public transport in the city still sucks so what alternatives do the lower-income group have ?

"Our poor fuel efficient Diesel-Green engine LandRover Freelander which used to be RM90 to fill up will be filling the pinch.
I dont even want to think about our other car right now."
